Default Hello, Today I took my car

Hello,

Today I took my car for a drive and noticed that the rpm gauge was not working, but the speedometer was working fine. What should I check to see if I can get it working? Could it be a fuse or a wire came disconnected somewhere? Thanks for your time.

I found the RPM/TACH sensor removed it and cleaned it with contact cleaner. The speedometer gauge always works but it seems the RPM gauge will not start working until the car starts moving and even then the RPM gauge will cut in and out. Any suggestions please????
Thanks.

The problem could be inside the sensor not the contact outside, try to trace the wire making sure it's not shorting or grounding anywhere.

Default Is this sensor the only thing

Is this sensor the only thing that can be causing this problem? If so I will just replace it and be done. I just want to make sure it cant be a series of things to go wrong.

Thanks
