Default 2004 Emissions HC @ 1500 RPM

2004 Emissions
HC @ 1500 RPM 84
HC @ 2500 RPM 135

2003 Emissions
HC @ 1500 RPM 49
HC @ 2500 RPM 56
Same inspection station, different machines. If that matters.

Walt,

are these readings after the cat?

if so (which I didn't realize based on CO #'s) then I would say 1.2-1.5 is on the pretty rich side...if you have No Cats or these numbers are Pre-Cat then they look good.

JRV I do have cats & the readings were taken after them.
Here is everything I have:
........25/25 Test................50/15 Test
HC ppm......84.......................135
CO%........1.05......................157
NOx ppm.....48........................42
RPM.........2315.....................1500
CO+CO2......15.6 .....................0.1

Sorry I don't know exactly how these numbers relate to tuning my engine but I'm learning.
As always thanks!

Default Hi Walt, the HC #'s tip

Hi Walt,

the HC #'s tipped me off the exhaust was being checked after the cat.

You would be better off if you could see CO in the range of .04-.07 at the tailpipe...instead of the above 1.0 numbers you presently have...I would sispect pre-cat the CO is 2.0 or higher which is a rich running condition. The HC numbers indicate you are firing on all 8 with no mssfires of note.

Regards, JRV
