Default Talked to Mike at Norwood'

Talked to Mike at Norwood's today - it has been there experience that if they do go out, MSD's burn out and go poof with no reversible symptoms like I have. What has anyone else seen in an MSD failure? They are thinking some heat soak in the fuel system.
I have heard some guys with the stock 308 airbox say that going to individual filters helps against a problem they were having with vapor lock.
Not sure. Will begin testing the new 36mm venturis, 60 accel jets for better breathing with the new cams this afternoon - will see what happens!

Default I talked to MSD about this as

I talked to MSD about this as well concerning my car. When they fail they just don't work thats it, MSDs get the signal when to fire from the distributor leads then send the spark to the coil which is distributed by the dist and wires so intermittent spark issues are from the cap, rotor, wires, extenders, plugs.

Interesting it happens when hot, could be a fuel delivery issue might chech the fuel pressures and filters, also could be a fuel pump failure or heated fuse intermittently shutting down the pump.

Default as far as coils go,maybe the 3

as far as coils go,maybe the 308's had modified Marelli coils like my 400 does which allows a position other than upright.i had '79 308 but i can't remember anymore.as for the 400,i tried MSD blaster 2 coils and they leeked due to the 45 degree mounting angle.i think now after reading this thread i will stick with with the stock set-up on my car, even though some guys i really respect insist on electronic ignition.i don't want to waste money that could be spent elsewhere on the car when the factory ignition system has worked fine on both my 'points' Ferrari's
