Does anyone have any knowledge of a Qucik Silver Exhaust for a Ferrari? I'm considering putting one on my 348. I just have a hard time excepting the price for a tubi. Is it a waste of money? Should I just step up and get a tubi? Any Thoughts?

I use ANSA on my older 308s........I think Quicksilver is one of the few vendors making complete systems, including the headers.
I have heard them mentioned as the fix for the 355 burn thru problem. HTH Tubis can be kind of loud for the longer drives. It depends how much time you spend under your car gazing at the polished unit, I suppose! And what kind of exhaust note you want. I sometimes need to sneak out of the neighborhood, if you know what I mean.........;) |

I write: Heck the stock 355 exhaust can be tiring for long drives (500 miles/day) unless you can cruise at just above 70 MPH where there is a reletively quiet spot in the resonances. Every time I take my wife for a drive, she asks if this car needs a new muffler, it is bone stock right down to the air cleaners. {You can consider this a bonus if used it properly!} |

I had Quicksilver make a pair of rear mufflers for my Pantera, I had just fitted a new engine with larger headers and needed muffers with 3" pipework but wanted them stock in appearance, I was also asked to choose between a normal, sports or supersport spec, Panteras are LOUD anyway so I choose the normal baffle type, They are very well made and exactly what I asked for, I have never heard anything bad about this company.

After looking at a TimeValve unit from a '82 Mondy, I'd say the weld quality on that one was very poor. Perhaps they have improved. I would note, that the feed pipes (those going into the unit) are less in diameter than OEM, so you may experience a drop in power due to lower flow.

Although I am a fan of having a good race shop fabricate a muffler system to specifically meet your requirements, if you have to buy off the shelf, the Capristo seems to have the nicest combo of tone, construction and volume.
The Larini folks are also excellent to deal with, and will work genuinely to get you wehat you want. best rt |

After almost choking, then digesting a big wad of gum when told what a new set of pipes were going to run me for my 400i here in Hawaii, I called a friend at a custom shop whom I trust with welding stainless fabricated a set after cutting the old Ansas' open and looking at an interior of a Tubi resonator on my Testarossa with a plumbing cam. We then came up with our own design that was inspired by but not a copy of the aforementioned brands and we took to making it happen. I had a good recording of old 12cyl racing Ferrari cars from the Monterey historics and with a little work, Viola! a system that looks stock, is 2 1/2" to 3" pipe that gives it that come hither Ferrari growl and has a built in electronic butterfly diverter valve controlled from the shifter that "uncaps" the headers when needed. The patent will be forthcoming. Time and materials, installation- $1,200.00 (He asked for $500 for his labor.)
