Default JRV, great tech board here

JRV, great tech board here

Winter project is a complete suspension rebuild, I have all the part #s for ES bushings except for the rear outer A-frame, is there one that will work with minor rework? Why is this bushing so complex compared to the inner ones ( many parts make up one unit ), I'm sure there is a good reason for it.

Thanks

Hi Bob, welcome aboard.

good question,

The outer bushings are 'true' bushings . Steel pins that swivel in a metal shell. This design is to provide smooth solid swivel motion without the deflection common to rubber, that tends towards impresise alignments and especially handling.

This design is right from the race cars and provides total stability where the 'rubber meets the road'.

You don't want to change this portion of the suspension, but careful inspection and replacement of worn/frozen pins and bushings may be neccesary to allow solid smooth movement.

Regards, JRV

Default Thanks for the reponse, I will

Thanks for the reponse, I will stay with the OEM parts for the outer bushings. Any reason not to go with the ES inner bushings other than ride? Thank Enzo for Ferrari UK, prices are great for most parts needed.

For those that do not know,

Ferrari of UK can be accessed via the Ferrari owners site at http://www.owners.ferrari.com

Navigate to the spare parts link and then go shopping.

you get next day shipping at an affordable price. usually $10-20. Even in California.

Default JRV, On the bushings issue.

JRV,

On the bushings issue...do you know someone who can make or do you have a source of sherical bearings to replace bushings for racing of course. I hate to spend huge money to reinvent the wheel. Racers tell me that the Ferrari challenge bushigns are not that much better than stock OEM's and custom ones are the hot ticket.
