Default My QV has developed an issue a

My QV has developed an issue at start up. It has not been revving up after starting. I pulled the electrical connector last night on the WUR and it was badly corroded. I cleaned the connector and discovered that the metal prongs inside were rusty and had been bent and crammed deep inside the plug. I think I was able to fix it, but I am really wanting to replace the connector all together. Is there a source for the plastic plugs? Also, are there any special tools (crimpers) needed to complete the job?

Thanks guys

Default Both Porsche & MB Dealers

Both Porsche & MB Dealers sell repair plugs and connectors, probably all Euro car dealers that use Bosch FI except Ferrari perhaps.

That could be the cause of the readings I didn't like perhaps?

Default Thank you JR. I will check wit

Thank you JR. I will check with the dealers.

What should I ask for? Bosch FI electrical plugs? Or should I remove it and take it in?

Any special crimper required to install the new one?

I will probably end up replacing all of the plugs as every one I have come across has been pretty nasty looking. That's what 19 years in Florida will do I guess?

Default Update: Cleaning the con

Update:

Cleaning the connection helped a little. It revs to 1500RPM stays there for a few seconds, then goes to 2000RPM then imediately falls back to 1200RPM. It stays at 1200RPM for twenty seconds then falls to idle at 900-1000RPM.

I may have to replace the connector to see if it is the problem because I don't think I was able to repair it well enough to be "like new."

Based on the description above does anyone have any ideas? Bad WUR or just a bad connection on the WUR? Anything I'm missing in my diagnosis?

As always...
Thank you for your help.

Default Hi Jeremy: I am very interest

Hi Jeremy:
I am very interested in your findings.
My 328 no longer has the high idle and I have been passively investigating the source of the problem.
My thoughts are looking at the AAV, at some point I am going to swap with a friend and see what the result is.

Need to check my WUR connector.

Please keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks,
Mark

Default Well, I have not picked up the

Well, I have not picked up the replacement connector yet, but I was out in the garage tonight tinkering. I had the car at idle last night shortly after starting her up. I went around looking at things, checking things here adn there. I pushed down on all of the spark plug boots to make sure they were all tight and plugged in. When I touched the number 6 cylinder I would feel a pulse. Like the plug wasn't tightened enough to seal properly. I check all of the plugs tonight (donating blood to the Ferrari gods) and sure enough, the number 6 plug was not tight at all. It literally turned with just the weight of the ratchet. I checked all the gaps and cranked all of them down and double checked. Started the car and she went to 1100RPM for about 10-15 seconds, the up to 1500RPM for 20-30 seconds, then up to 2000RPM where she stayed for about a minute. She then settled down to 1100RPM.

Could a loose plug have been causng these problems? I will start her again in the morning to see if she goes through the warm up period as she should and will report back what happens.
