Default Well, after much procrastinati

Well, after much procrastination I started the 60k service on the 308. I have the water pump off and have sent that off to be re-built. The rear timing belt cover is off exposing the timing belt. My next task is to bleed the A/C system and remove the compressor to get to the front timing belt. One thing to note is that nothing to this point has been very easy. I can see how quickly hours can add up when working on these cars. I also have a renewed appreciation for the experts (JRV, Bill Badurski, etc). To do this day in and day out would drive me crazy!! But it is still fun.

Here is a pic of the progress.

More to follow....

Default Yes- the a/c will swing out of

Yes- the a/c will swing out of the way and rest on the back of the fuel tank. The only thing making this difficult is the water pump in the way, but you took care of that.

Also- when I did mine, a fuel line was running between the a/c lines, so it needed to be moved out of the way. There is a bracket holding this fuel line to the body frame that needs to be loose, but not removed- at least on my car.

You can see it propped on the tank in this picture.

keep us updated as you go, and thanks for the pix.
Good luck.

Default Thank you for the pics John. M

Thank you for the pics John. Maybe that will work.

Last night I removed the fuel distributor and coolant tank out of the way. There weren't that many bolts to mess with and the little effort spent now would really pay off in the future. Here are some pics from last nights work.

Default Jeremy, make life easy on y

Jeremy,

make life easy on yourself, just get things out of your way!!!!!!

You will then have maximum space to work in and doing difficult tasks will be far easier than trying to perform operations and fighting obstructions at the same time!! Ferrari Service is not a Lazy Mans game!!!!

Default I would reccommend taking off

I would reccommend taking off the rear bonnett. It makes getting to the front (of the car) bank of cylinders much easier to get to.

Default Looking at your pictures, you

Looking at your pictures, you may have a front main seal leak. My car definately did and the area in your pictures look similar to mine.

Default Mark, Are you referring to th

Mark,
Are you referring to the first picture where everything looks wet and oily? If so, the water pump let out quite a bit of coolant when I removed it. Before that, everything was as dry as a bone. The picture looks worse that it actually is. There were no signs of any leakage from the seal.

I was reminded of the bonnet many times last night when I knocked my head on it. But I am the only one at the house so I have been putting that off. I have a good friend that I can call to give me a hand with that.

JRV...You are very correct. This is a thinking mans sprot for sure. I have already removed the fuel distributor and coolant tank. I started removing the A/C compressor last night before I realized it was midnight. Taking all of the accessory parts off is definently the best way to go.
