Default Hi All, The inner tie rods

Hi All,

The inner tie rods on my 512BB's steering rack are shot. Is there a good shop to send it for a rebuild. It looks like a new rack is not available.

Thanks,
Grant

Hi Grant,

the racks can be rebuilt by any quality R&P Rebuild shop as they are TRW racks. The nylon inserts on the knuckles wear out causing the shimmy. Check your local yellow pages or get a reference from a foriegn car shop.

I have a local company that does mine if you want their contact info, let me know.

Regards, JRV

Default Hi Grant, Although the BB rac

Hi Grant,
Although the BB rack may be NLA, I'm almost 100% sure than a 308 rack can be used with minor modifications. A few years back, I replaced the rack in my BB with a 308 unit...can't remember which year the rack was from...and the modification was two semi-circular collars that go around the rack on the passenger side to secure it to the OE mounting points. Very simple...and it works great. Contact Ted Rutland, as he helped me out with this problem.

The best I can tell the PN for the adapters is 95740020, but I'd verify this info with Ted before ordering a new one...

Regards,
David
