Default Hello, Look's like I

Hello,
Look's like I need to replace my inner Cv boot, nice leaking going on!! And as you all know, should do them all!!
Any tips on doing this job??
I do have a 4 post lift, I will need to bottle jack the back and pull the wheels, but at least I can walk under the car!! It looks like the
dealer has kit's for around $30 each boot?? Sound's like a good price to me. Thanks for any info in advance.

Robert

Default I did an inner CV boot on my T

I did an inner CV boot on my TR, last Fall. I removed the axle half-shaft completely, separated the inner CV joint, and installed a new boot. The CV joint was put together, and the shaft was re-installed. I did fill the CV cavity with new grease.

It isn't that hard. I held a screw driver between the caliper and one of the slots in the brake disc, to keep the shaft from turning. Loosen ALL bolts, on both sides, before removing either end........much easier.

The hard part was get more room, to get the shaft out. It may be done, I think, but I also disconnected the hub at the upper control arm and tilted it down, in order to get more room.........very easy this way.

Why replace all of them? I would only do the one that leaks, and make sure the other one is supple, to the touch. I would replace it only if it felt very hard.

Good luck!!!!!!!!!

Default Hey Henry, Thanks for the tip

Hey Henry,
Thanks for the tips, they will come in handy!!

I just figured since it's all pulled apart, do them up?? I will take a closer look and see the condition of the other boot's, but doing boot's every 17 years is not to bad!!
