Default Shop Manual is pretty good act

Shop Manual is pretty good actually. Not every step included, but those omitted are obvious ones anyway.

Bill Badurski is spot-on! The shop manual is surprisingly good for most of the steps in the engine removal procedure. But I have some tips that may save you a bit of work. You do not have to remove the engine deck lid, though it would make for more working room, but it isn't necessary. Do not unhook the AC lines from the compressor...simply unbolt the AC pump and tie it up out of the way. This way you avoid draining the system and the expense of recharging. There are 4 nuts at each shock tower but you only need to remove 3 of them as one has a clearance notch....take a peak at them and you will see what I mean....these can be a pain to remove/install. Run a thin piece of guide wire through the routing that the throttle cable goes. You can do this as you pull the cable back through it's pathway, or you can run a wire through before the engine is installed. You will Thank yourself for this later as re-routing the throttle cable through from scratch with the engine in the car is a real bear. As has been said the shop manual is pretty good but there are some inacuracies like the rear bumper is not held on by 4 bolts but actually uses 8....things like that. Just be very organized, label everything, and take your time and things will work out fine. And most other fcar owners will be amazed you did this service yourself. I almost felt like a celebrity down at the fcar meet at Indianapolis a few weeks ago...when other owners heard of the work I did on my car I practically had to do a "press conference". It was great and I really enjoyed it....I've often thought about compiling all the pics I took and making a manual for this procedure, but just haven't taken the time. It has been requested several times and people have offered to pay me for the info....but I prefere to share advice for free on forums like this. This forum and others are what gave me the confidence to get my TR in the first place...and I like to try and give back whatever I've learned. There are several "Shining Stars" that I owe sooo much to but can never Thank them enough. David Feinberg, Steve Magnussson, JRV, Bill Badurski, Tom Jones, and several other wonderful people. Sorry to slide off topic here....but I just wanted to remind those of us "less-learned" how valuable this forum...and especially these people...are to Ferrari enthusiasts like me.
