Default I finally finished the major s

I finally finished the major service. It was started last August........no hurry!!!!!!!

During the major, I replaced the injectors, plugs, caps and rotors. The car started, but was running very rough........the left exhaust was hot, while the right only warm. I then noticed that I have inadvertently forgoten to connect the air/flow meter electrical connector, to the right side. After connecting it up, the car ran better, but was still missing, on the right side.

I think that I fouled out the new plugs, on the right side. I will remove the right side plugs, and clean them up, and re-install them.......then try again.

The final step will be to adjust the CO, using an exhaust analyzer, and then balance the vacuum.

Am I missing anything?

Thanks.

Default Henry, I'd go ahead and

Henry,

I'd go ahead and check CO real quick to insure you're in a range the banks will run ok at...then set about fine tuning.

Default JRV, Since I removed the pl

JRV,

Since I removed the plungers, on the FDs, and failed to note the depth of the securing screw, it would seem to make sense to run the fuel pumps, with engine not running, and check for leaks at the plunger.

Then I would remove the fuel lines to cylinders 6 and 7, and move the plunger in, to make sure that fuel comes out, as soon as the plunger is pushed.........if not, then, I would re-adjust the securing screw till it did. I would assume that fuel should come out at soon as the plunger is pushed in.

Do you concur?

Default Henry, I really don't

Henry,

I really don't think the plungers will leak, but certianlly you can check them to be certian. Yes, pulling an injector and pushing on the plunger by hand can give you a ballpark static setting.

Regards, JRV

Default Henry, I am looking for pictu

Henry,
I am looking for pictures of the engine subframe and main car frame with the engine removed on a TR> I was hoping that you might have taken pictures of your engine out service, and if so if you could send copies of them to me.
Thanks,
John

Default JRV: I haven't been that

JRV: I haven't been that active, because of the Winter....brrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!! The Boxer sits in one corner of the shed, collecting dust, while the TR, sits in another corner, also, collecting dust. The Boxer runs fine, while the TR still needs work.

I just came back, today, from Chicago.......for Easter with the family. Took my new cruiser.......2005 MB E500......very smooth.

The last thing I did in the Fall, to the TR, was set the FD plunger depths......to a point where some fuel comes out in the rest position.......I thought I needed this during idle. However, I was wrong. The engine ran, but VERY rich.......too much fuel. The car then sat all Winter.

My next project is to reset the plunger depths, to that, where no fuel enters the lines with the plunger in the rest position. I will unscrew the plunger by 1/4 turn at a time. All this is trial and error. I hope to do this in the next few weeks.

I will also be moving, in the next 2 months......already moving little things to the other home. I will find out, in the next two weeks, how much the WI DOT will give me for my house.......something about a 4-lane highway going through my living room!!!!!!!!!

In the meantime, I had a contractor, remove the garage roof, of the new place, and raise the walls, so I end up with a ceiling height of 13 feet, vs the current 9 feet. I need the 13 feet so that I may be able to install the lift. I just bought a manlift (scissors style), so I can work on the ceiling......insullation, electical, etc. I am too old to do this on a ladder.

Default When I had the engine/subframe

When I had the engine/subframe out, I did remove the engine from the subframe. I installed the subframe with wheels (by itself), back into the car, so I could move the car around the shop. I don't know if I took pictures of this.......I will look.

What are you looking for, specifically?
