Default I am removing my TR's fuel

I am removing my TR's fuel tanks, to clean and have checked out........broke the return line nipple on the right one.

While the right one came out easily, the left is harder. It seems that I have to remove the shifter shaft, from the console........it is in the way. BTW: The engine is out of the car.

Can I remove it at the console? Do I have to remove the whole console, to get at it?

Thanks.

It was the rod going into the console that was sticking out just far enough to not be able to remove the fuel tank.

I decided to leave it alone, since the right one checked out OK, after having a new nipple welded on.

The welder was impressed at the quality of the aluminum used. He TIG welded it, and stated that that was the best quality aluminum tank that he has ever seen...........the worst is on a Harley!!!!!!!!!!!, according to him.

So, it seems that Ferrari does use good quality materials.
