V8 Exhausts Lambo vs Ferrari

I've always heard that the small Lambo V-8s have a far superior sound than their Ferrari counterparts. Is there something about the different exhaust/muffler configurations or are there other factors? Not sure if Lambos have a flat crank or not, but I assume that also might make a difference.
Any one have any direct comparative experience or insights to share? I'm re-designing a custom muffler and appreciate any advice.

The Lambo Jalpa is one of the sweetest sounding cars out there IMHO. I don;t think the lambo uses a flat crank like the Ferrari but I could be wrong. The 308 sounds wimpy in compairison. I don't think you would ever be able to get the 308 to sound like a Jalpa.

It's amazing how everyone raves about the small Lambo V-8 sound - I need to find one and listen. I will readily agree that many Ferrari V-8s (especially the later ones like the 360 - I know, I'm a heretic) sound like two small buzzy 4 cyl engines (which is really what they are).
Best I can tell from photos the lambo runs separate systems per bank using smallish chambered mufflers exiting a single tip apiece.

I listened to a Lambo Silhoette (fore-runner to the Jalpa) last summer and it sounded like an American style V8, aka Chev or Ford. Not buzzy by any means!

Not sure if the two cars share the same engine but I believe they do from what I have read.

Latest info from a Jalpa owner on Lambo-talk is that the Jalpa has a flat crank V-8, with webers 2 valves and seperate exhausts. He also has a 308 and says that there is no comparison in sound with the Lambo sounding much better.

Hmmmmm....this may require some thought.

Here's a Jalpa exhaust sound clip graciously provided by Mike from Lambo Chat. Although a low resolution recording, the overall tone does seem a bit lower and smoother from similar resolution Ferrari sound clips. Actually, it reminds me of a 3.2 with a Capristo Exhaust, the one exhaust (at least by sound clips) that tends to smooth out the Ferrari V-8 tone.

Although difficult to say precisely, the Magnaflow I have now is even a bit deeper than the Jalpa, and the Dynomax SuperTurbo Sport large-body crossflow I am looking at is deeper and smoother yet, much like a 365 GTC/4.

We'll see as I plan to mount the Dynomax next weekend. Will then choose between the Magnaflow, the Tubi and the Dynomax. The Dynomax and the tubi still allow me to mount a cat if I need to later, but the Magnaflow is clearly the least restrictive.
