Where could I find 16 Wheels for a 308 QV

Hello

My car has got the 15,5" wheels with Michelin TRX tyres. I would like to have a set of 16" wheels for the car. Do you have any idea of where to start looking? I´m living in Europe, so I prefere this side of the Atlantic!

What size of tires can you suggest? Should I go with the same width front and rear?

Superformance in the UK (Essex) sells a set of replica 16" wheels fairly reasonably - 600 pounds for two 7" and two 8".

I would like to add that,

1. The Superformance reproduction wheels (new) will cost roughly half what used OEM QV wheels would cost, and those would be in need refinishing.

2. The Superformance wheels are near perfect copies except for a minor difference in how the face of the rear wheels are offset which most people don't notice and those that do (mostly), don't care. THEY LOOK JUST LIKE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT.

3. The Superformance wheels are perfectly round, have virtually no runout and do not require any special considerations to balance.

4. The Superformance wheels with tires mounted weigh between 2 and 3 pounds more (each) than OEM alloys and tires.


5. The finish on the Superformance wheels is beautiful, except when the edges get dinged during shipping. Inspect carefully as soon as you get them!

5. I have a set on my 308 and they run smooth and true with no vibration through all speed ranges.

6. You can buy and install new series one 328 wheels from FerrariUK for less but you have to machine the hubs on the front wheels to fit over the dust cap or machine a new dust cap and then provide a method to mount the plastic cavallino centerpiece. They are not OEM style wheels for a QV.

I am using Yokohama AVS ES100 tires. Good to 168 MPH.. Less than 100.00 USD each from www.tirerack.com.

The size I am using on the front is 225/50-16 and the size on the rear is 245/45-16. No rubbing or interference.

Stock sizes would be 205/50-16 front and the rear
225/50-16.

The handling of my old '78 308 improved immensely with these new technology tires. It's like a whole new car.

Thanks for the info, I've been looking for replacement wheels for my 308, and it looks like this is the place to get them. Also, Spasso thanks for the description of the set up that your using. It helps a great deal. I currently have gold BBS 16" rims on the car, they don't look bad if you keep them clean, but I like the look of the originals much better.

I think I´ll go for a set of 225/50-16 front and 245/45-16 rear. Good info on the superformance wheels! I am not intending to use the car for trackwork so I thought most aftermarket wheels are good enough.

My feelings exactly Jim. The modern open spoke wheels look pretty good on 308's too but 308's don't have those nice big brake rotors and calipers to show off like the 360's etc....thats why I stuck with the 5 stars.

I run with the club and open it up once in a while so good tires are a must for safety but I can't see paying 200+USD each for tires that will be used for driving legal speeds most of the time and wear out twice as fast.

I agree, if I was going to track I would go with some stickier tires for sure.
