Default Car Covers

Many people go out and buy vinyl or waterproof car covers to keep their cars dry and innocently cause more trouble than they prevent. Moisture gets under the cover anyway, from underneath, and then is trapped under the cover and prevented from evaporating quickly. Thus a vehicle that's covered with a waterproof cover remains damp longer than one that's been unprotected and has dried in the air sunlight following a storm. The best covers on the market are cotton or cotton polyester, woven so closely that they keep out the sunlight, prevent a good deal of moisture from getting through, dry out quickly, allow the moisture to evaporate easily, and are durable enough to last a couple of years. The fabric is also soft enough to avoid scratching the paint. These covers come in shapes and sizes designed to fit specific vehicles, and you order them by year, make and model.

Cotton covers will protect the car without causing the problems you described.

It is important to mention that unless the car is clean prior to installing the cover, one does risk marring the cars finish. Keep it clean to keep it clean!
