Default Ferrari considering a V6 Turbo?

A Dino will never happen, but how about a Ferrari flat-six engine? According to AutoTelegraaf that block in on the agenda. According to Roberto Fedeli, a company spokesman, a V6 Turbo engine in a part of plans. The new engine will meet the future environmental requirements but will keep the current Ferrari’s performance.

"A turbo engine is one of the developments of the "Research & Design" department," he said. "It will be smaller in size and capacity than the current V8 and V12 engines."

"Within two years we will determine what engine is the most suitable for the development starting 2013 to 2016. Now we have to look at all possibilities."

"We always looked for the best technical solution. The only thing we will never do is a four-doors sedan. That is not a sports car. An SUV either."

Ferrari may never consider a 4 door or an SUV, but the 612 is big as in B-I-G!

A V6 may be in the future for environmental reasons, but highly unlikely in my opinion. Still, the economy and Fiat's future goals may persuade Ferrari in eco directions other than V6 gas engines as the marque's trend-setter for that particular market.
