My 308 water pump is leaking out of the weep hole so I am going to remove it for a rebuild. Is this the correct order?
remove impeller
press out shaft, out of the rear where impeller was (rear seal should come with it)
remove rear sear
press front bearing out front where pulley was
press out rear bearing out the rear of the pump where the impeller was

Does this sound correct? Any other tips. Thanks.

That sounds right.

Just be carefull with the new seal face and don't crack the houing taking out the old bearing.

JRV is right on that part. If the bearings have been leaked thru, it's a good bet that there will be corrosion on the bore that the bearings press into, and of course out of. Take the time to clean as much of it out as youcan before trying to press the bearings, or the buildup will jam in between the old bearing and the houseing, causeing it to crack.

One of the tricks I use to disasseble alu, with pressed in parts...is a bt of heat. Either place the waterpump assembly in an oven, or my favorite, a toaster over for 15-20 minuites at 300F....and then they usually just fall apart under moderate press.

I got the pump off. I removed the pulley nut and impeller. I am now trying to remove the pulley and will work on the rest of the pump. I ended up removing the pump and housing as the pump didn't want to come off by itself. Thanks for the tips.

Ok I got the pulley and woodruff key out. Should I heat it up before I tried to push the shaft out?
The perfect thing to rest the pump on is an old 308 tensioner bearing. I am using my old one. I haven't tried to push the shaft out yet. Thanks.

Any tips on how to remove the shaft. I have beat the heck out of this thing with a rubber mallet and it didn't move a cm. I even heated it in the oven and that didn't help. I let it sit overnight in PB Blaster too.

Ok guys I got my water pump back on and it works!!!! I cleaned the housing and got the seal right for the wp housing to engine. The hardest part was getting the housing into the 2 coolant hoses that are underneath the plenum. It was a pain. I put a little WD40 in them to make the housing go in better. When I first put the pump on the impeller was hitting the housing so I push it in more and now it doesn't hit and rotates smoothly. Thanks Again.
