HI,

I cleaned and lubed my window mechanism on the passenger door. The window seems to be faster, BUT it still will almost come to a halt a certain points in its travel, then will continue.

I would like to avoid taking the motors out if I can. I can not seem to figure out where the binding is happening. Should the window tracks themselves (the felt/rubber lined grooves) be lubricated?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Anthony

You can try spraying a little

You can try spraying a little silicone lubricant down the window felt tracks and see if it makes a difference. On my previous 308, I would do this every six months or so, and it kept the windows running a bit faster.

Anthony,
I use graphite powder, the kind you would use on a lock cylinder. It is a bit messy, and you tend to waste alot blowing it into the tracks. I was told once by a manufacturer of aftermarket power windows.Only to use dry graphite because it wont hold any solids ( dust-dirt). Made sense to me so I did it and it worked well after working the window a few times. I used it many times since always with good results.

The window tracks themselves c

The window tracks themselves can get all fouled up with age and require adjustments as well as the cable and pulleys and other adjustments. Window issues such as you describe most often require the pulling off the door panel and a long careful study of the window & cables & tracks as the window is operated up and down. Once issues are determined the proper & precise adjustments to whatever binds can be addressed.

Thanks, everyone - since my driver's window seems to be working okay - I am going to compare the two (cable tension, track location etc...). Hopefully I can find out what is causing the binding......
