1995 F355B! This thing was MINT! Tubis made it sound quite nice too. Can't get much better.

Love those 355s. They do something that the 360s just don't do for me. I can't figure it out. I understand the 360 is a more capable car, but its something about that 355 look I can't quite get over.

Fantastic car.

Gotta say, that this is a car I will want to own one of these days. Love how the tail lip spoiler brings back the memories of the early GTBs and such. Just great. Also, 1995s are the pick of the bunch in my book, although the Serie Fioranos have gotten good praise too.

Cheers

I gotta thank JR here.

Every time I've visited Houston (3 times already) I've been treated to a smattering of different cool cars. In the short time I've been around him and his shop I've seen 246 Dinos, 308s, 328s, 348s, 348 Challenge, Mondials, 355, I mean the whole damn series. Needless to say an ex-AJ Foyt Boxer, another Boxer, a Maserati Bora, Diablos, Countachs (anniversary edition and "normal" ones), and on and on.

I feel like a kid in a candy store. So many pleasant sounds and sights everywhere you turn!

You got a kick ass job there JR!

Cheers

After servicing that 355 I guess I need to write some tech pointers and must do's, to keep these cars in shape. No wonder these cars get shin splints and have heart attacks, people try to take them from couch potatoe to marathon runner instantly. Doesn't work with cars any better than it works with people!

Hello All, just registered for this site. JR, I would love to see some tech pointers and must do's for the 355. I purchased a 99 355 about a month ago and am trying to figure out what I need to do to make sure everything stays running good!

Hi Tony, Welcome to Ferrari-Ta

Hi Tony, Welcome to Ferrari-Talk.

Beautiful 355 you have. How did it perform on the track? To your expectations?

must Do's = CHIP IT !! lol..and some BMC Filters minimum...plus , flush that Brake Fluid, better pads, and change to Royal Purple (or Redline, or for Ali-Agip SPX? which one Ali?) in the geatbox.

Yoko's...and lower it an 3/4's to 1" in the back...Ferrari found out they had high speed stability troubles because the back ends were to high.

What else?

Again welcome.

Thanks Taek-Ho,JR!
The car was fantastic on the track, it was my first time so I did not know what to expect. I did not drive, only my instructor. I think we did about 15 laps total in two sessions. I really appreciated the Ferrari carbon fiber seats around the corners. In the turns you are really wipped around.

It was a BMW club event and everyone was super Many people stopped by to look, take pictures,
etc... I left the bonnet up so all the motor heads could look at the engine.

The deal I made with the instructor was, push the car, redline every gear, I do not care if you break it, but DO NOT GET PASSED by a M3 :)

We passwd quite a few M3s and M5s in the corners and many more in the straight away.

The corkscrew was a blast, a lot like a rollercoaster,go up, sharp turn to the left, sharp turn to the right, go down.

Do not have a big lunch before doing that 10 times :)

I took a video for about 60 seconds of the run before we were black flagged for the camera :-(

The sound was great also :)

I just orderd K&N filters hope that is not a mistake.

I called Nick Forza (sp?) to see about a chip upgrade. He said it was about $1400 to get to between 390 hp and 397 hp, and it's torque to between 278 lb.-ft and 284 lb.-ft. I think that is too much to spend for now.

I have been reading about motor oil, really confusing as to which is best. I like what I read about Royal Purple, I do not plan to track the car more than once or twice a year, it is my daily drive to work car. I will need new tires soon.

As for lowering it, I am not sure, the front bottom is already getting beat up since it is so low :)

Which chip do you recommend?

Hi Tony,

Sounds like you had a Blaaasstttt! Good for you, Ferraris are truly the most fun when we're playing with them.

Agree there is no need to lower the front, although skid plates would make a nice addition to the bottom of the Fr. spoiler. The stability/handling issues were found to be the rear is too high. If you have a good mechanic have him check the rake.

Royal Purple is gaining wider acceptance in the Super Exotic World of Ferraris & Lamborghinis. For some specs for your needs you can check out>

JR,

If those oil studies are to be believed, and I see no reason not to, this is a great oil to use in my next oil change. Thanks for the tip on the air filter. I will check it every few weeks to see how the K&N holds up, if it fails on the 355 also, I will make sure I get the word out!

Do you have a recommendation for a chip upgrade for the 355?

thanks,

A chip would be pretty cool especially since you track the car. Doesn't Superchips make something? I think they make something for just about every European sports car. I heard they even made one for an Enzo?
I'll ask around.

Hi Tony,

If you decide to chip your 355 I reccomend you look into PowerChips. They have a Healthy Upgrade and it comes with a 3 yr warranty. I've had very good luck with their products.

That was the one. Powerchips,

That was the one. Powerchips, not superchips. They apparently have two levels of upgrade for the 355. One raises power about 20+ horsepower and the other 30+. Not sure about the torque but those numbers are also higher. JR is obviously much better qualified when it comes to this stuff.

Hello All,

Hello All,

Thanks for all of the tips for the 355. My Tubi finally arrived :)! I should be installing it in about two weeks. The mechanic has a 348 on one of his lifts that will be finished soon. I plan on documenting the process with lots of pictures. I will also record the sound of the standard exhaust from a fixed point and then record the sound of the tubi from the same point. I searched the net for side by side comparison under the same conditions but never found one.
