I would assume that the car in question has no catalytic converters or they have failed. If you think your cats are working then I would have an emission test and analyze the results to narrow down the problem.
When I purchased my 355 it had hollowed out cats and the odour was quite strong until I installed functioning cats.
only today the problem solved, and it was due to a completely removed butterfly inside the exhaust bypass valve which did not allow the exhaust gases pass via the Lambda sensors and those latter were enriching the mixture due to low volume of gases being analysed.
