Has any one ever dealt with European Auto Investments in Ft. Meyers? They have for sale a US-spec '98 355F1 with Speedlines and Tubi with 4200 miles for which they are asking $85K. The asking price seems to be below market for this type of vehicle. Any input would be appreciated.

Been to Ft. Myers a few times, really cool place.

Never heard of those particular guys. Can tell you that price is not out of line. Try thinking more in terms that many asking prices are laughable and once in awhile cars come along priced fairly for what they are.

The closest dealer to Ft. Myers is quite a ways off, maybe Tampa? or Ferrari of Central Florida? Have the sellers supply you with ownership history and service records and go from there. Pretty sure there are no real Ferrari mechanics in Ft. Myers, but perhaps some foriegn BMW/MD/Porsche shop could do a PPI? Not the best way to do it for sure, but?????

Shelton has a division of thei

Shelton has a division of their dealership over there. It's just a little south of Ft. Myers on old HWY 41. The do mostly Jag's, Audis, etc. But you might want to call them to see if they would look at it for you. My famliy has a place on Sanibel and I spend a lot of time down there. There are a lot of little small time dealers that occasionally get an exotic car or two...but I've never heard of these guys either. Things change quickly down there. There is a place called auto quest which also gets a few Ferrari's (it's also part of some small national dealer network?)
Anyway, based on all the cars I looked at down there over the years I highly recomend looking at it yourself if possible or getting someone like shelton to do it for you. There are some nice cars around there and some good people but I've noticed over the years that good cars and good people are in the minority... just check it out as completely as you can.

Hi Marcello, my Bad...welcome to Ferrari-Talk btw..

see if you can get all the scoop on the car from the sellers as mentioned...what is nice to see is a set of records that readily explains service history and general condition. Then if everything on the surface is up to spec, closer considerations may be in order.

Not all cars have records for a variety of reasons but it's helpful when they do.

Hey JRV,
It's funny you should say that... For the last few years I'd head south in the middle of Jan. start with the Cavallino Classic, go up to Daytona for the 24 hours and wrap up my vacation right after Sebring (occasionally IRL would be in Miami early march too). Of course I just got married so my annual 3 month racing/girl chasing vacation is now history but lifes still good.

I know that there are a couple of places that do that dollar on the wall thing, Barnicle Phil's up on Cayo Costa is one and another place or two. Anyway, after Sept 11th (9-11) one of the places let local firemen take down all the money and donate it to the relief efforts... there was something like $10K from one place alone. At least at Barnicle phil's the tradition has continued.
