I recently uninstalled an old

I recently uninstalled an old Clifford alarm in my 1987 328. Part of the wiring was connected to the ignition.

I have been struggling trying to figure out how to get the ignition wiring hooked back up properly.

The wiring diagrams I have been looking at were definitely made for someone smarter than I....

Here is a picture of the back of the ignition switch -

I have a yellow wire and a white wire that need a home - Can anyone help? Thanks

Slag,

The only way to work

Slag,

The only way to work these things out is to accept the wiring diagram for what it is, sit down with it, and really work through it.

It's actually a blessing to have it, especially an original if you can.

When I replaced my fuse box, I got "very" well aquainted with the wiring diagram, especially since I had to trace a short.

It's not rocket science, but it is hard to read (knowing italian didn't hurt, either, for the color codes--but these are still simple enough to look up as needed).

The clifford alarm needed a source of "switched" voltage (on with the ignition), which accounts for one of the wires, almost for sure. Not sure about the other one.

You can work this out!

Hi Slag,

Here's a quic

Hi Slag,

Here's a quick picture of the backside of the ignition switch on my 88 1/2 (doubt different than 1987):

Proceeding clockwise connections are (per terminal):
* Two white
* (open)
* one red
* one red
* next is two-terminal connector with upper two wires yellow/black and lower two yellow. Two wires per each terminal.

Suspect your white & yellow wires are second wires for respective terminals?

Thanks guys - Very helpful - A

Thanks guys - Very helpful - A guy I had meet once before from the F-Chat board came by & helped me out a bit today - Gave me some much need lessons on wiring!

Before we had to call it a day, we had the white and Yellow wires hooked up properly

Found out though my turn signals and brake lights are not working now... Back to the drawing board to figure that one out. Any ideas?

Thanks again!

:)
