I have a Mondial that is leaki

I have a Mondial that is leaking from the two seals behind the timing belt drive pulleys. So I did some investigating and found the seals behind the pulleys were practically glued in place on this small lip in front of the bearing. I thought that was strange but I found some replacement seals and installed them like the others were. Then after about 50 - 100 miles they were leaking again. I have a parts manual and it has a bad picture that looks like the seal is behind the bearing. If that is true, can I take the front engine cover off by simply taking the timing belts off and removing the cover by removing the studs that point down?

That is a big and time consumi

That is a big and time consuming job. Most techs prefer to pull the engine to do this job, though it can be dine in the car, with alot of patiance.

To do it in the car will require toolstobe fabricated, and a bit of swaering, and quite possiably breaking some expensive parts, if you have not done a similar job before.

You have to remove the oil sump pan, and then remove the oil pump pick-up tube (very difficult with the engine still attached to the trans bt it is possiable with some fabbed up sockets and tiny fingers!!) ALL the studs in the block out and you many also have to remove the water pump to get a little more clearance.

i would suggest that if you have not done somthing like this before, maybe consider to have it done by sombody who has.

So I guess that means that the

So I guess that means that the seals are supposed to be behind the bearings. That realy pisses me off that some jerk would do a halfass patch job like that. I am going to tear in to it this week end does any one have some advice on where to get those seals.

I NEVER pull an engine to repl

I NEVER pull an engine to replace the seals or the bearings. Wouldn't dream of it.
