Did anyone see that documentary filmed in 1972 that they have been showing in Speed Channel. It was called Speed "something". I'm trying to find the title to see if its available in DVD. It was narrated by Mario Andretti and Vic Elford (or was it Brian Redman?). Very cool vintage footage of the 70s races. Daytona, Le Mans, Sebring, etc.
Favorite quote (not verbatim): "Everyone says how racing is not how it used to be, how it has more rules, and more regulations. But for the people who drive the cars, nothing has changed." Hehehe. What I would give to be able to drive an endurance racer legend. The fortunate few indeed. Heroes, all of them.
It's funny how I find myself saying that same line (minus the driver part) a lot having grown up watching tape of races from the 70's and live racing in the 80's, and these guys were saying the same things back in the 70's. Maybe these pre-war vintage racer nuts are onto something... Nah, those guys are just plain crazy!
Cheers
