The bad news first...due to some of the lowest forms of guttless losers and the smear campagian they waged for months and even an attempt to extort money from the event, attentance numbers and weather killed the track portion of TTRotB's 03. One even scammed 3 free BBQ dinners on the pretense they were too expensive, after they had eaten of course.
To the good news, life has a way of balancing things out.
To the Great News....
Saturday was a resounding succes with over 100 'great people' and 65 cars attending. We had 11 Lamborghinis in attendance, which is a record number gathering I'm told, dating from a 1967 Miura that was driven to the event by Taek Ho Kwon and his lovely (car nut) wife, to a 2002 Murcielago driven by WB and everything in between from Houston, and we had from Dallas a Twin Turbo VT of Mark Carney and an 03 Murcielago brought by the gracious crew of Lamborghini of Dallas. Several cars entered from Austin & San Antonio had last minute troubles and were unable to attend, we wish them better luck next year. Houston out did Dallas in numbers but not in spirit. The guys from Lamborghini of Dallas brought a Treasure Chest of Official Lambo Gear that made great door prizes for many lucky guests, including Ed Perwien who was presented with a super cool Lambo Jacket in a special thank you ceremony. After Ed recieved his Jacket and was thanked by one and all for being such a gracious host we were treated to a performance by his trainer and 2 of his multi-award winning saddle bred show horses. Believe me they were beautiful and really wowed everyone in attendance, the prancing horse lovers especially, but even the raging bull lovers were wowed.
Directly after the horse exhibition it was Murcielago and VT Twin Turbo Test Run Time! And I can tell you the guys from Lamborghini of Dallas and Mark Carney really had a crowd pleaser with this one!!!! After several overly excited raging bull lovers had been treated to a few hot laps of the local roads we managed to move Ed Perwien to the front of the line for his Murcielago Fun Run, from what I could tell when Ed got back and was exiting the Murcielago the grin is likely still on his face!!! I can't forget to mention that Mark Carney was grinning big after his test run where he and his son took after the Murcielago caught and passed them at over 160.....proving to Marks satisfaction that even as blindingly fast as the Murcielago's are they still can't quite match the 750 HP of Marks custom Bad Boy Black Twin Turbo Diablo.
While still talking about cars we certianly need to mention that close to 25 Porsches (hard core "sports car" enthusiasts ) were also in attendance as well as 2 immaculate Maserati Ghiblis (hope someone will post pics of these)as well as many others.
Besides the fact the event was filled with great cars and great people and was a huge success and enjoyed by all attending I had an extra special moment when the Peoples Favorite votes were tallied and my restored 67 Miura took 1st place! I must say with so many outstanding Lamborghinis lined up I was truly shocked and honored. In all fairness I turned over the awrds of Lambo Gear to the other winners moving the actual Diablo from the James Bond movie "Die Another Day" into first award spot followed by the Black VTTT, and the outstanding Black Murcielago of WB. Honestly though with so many incredible Lambos to choose from, they were all winners in my book.
