Will be needing to find tdc as I mount and time a new fangled distributor conversion on my 3.2. What size deep socket should I go buy and use to turn the engine from the front crank to find the elusive tdc marking on the crankshaft?

All advice welcome.

many thanks!

A 36mm, 1/2" drive socket will do the trick....

Russ, Davids correct, 36mm.

Russ, Davids correct, 36mm.

Honestly the best way imo to find TDC is with the inspection cover off, a very strong flashlight and a screwdriver of choice to turn the flywheel.

Trying to turn the engine on one end while checking on the other end is a PITA, and you will have to turn slowly once in range with a screwdriver anyway.

When I do use a socket/ratchet to speed things up I open the oil cap and turn the crank pulley until the intake cam mark is aligned with the saddle mark, then fine tune thru the inspection hole.
