I have a 79 cared 308, with the QV 16" wheels.
I almost lost a wheel yesterday because NTB didn't retorque my wheel properly after changing tires.
However, I discovered that the nuts are different front and back: the front nut are 1/2 inch or so longer than the back ones on my car.
I tried to fit the front ones on the back but they were too long...

My questions are:
Is it normal?
Are the nuts on 14" original wheels the same as the ones on 16"?
Are the nuts different on front and rear wheels (7" vs. 8"?)?

Hi Arnaud,

Yes all the 3 series cars have longer front lug bolts. Doesn't matter what rims the car has, unless someone has changed everything out from stock.

Regards, JRV.

Arnaud,

We have upgraded wheel bolts available for your car. My company, DexM llc. is a distributor for a line of machined metal parts for Ferraris, and these include wheel bolts. We have stock sizes as well as longer bolts for use with our spacers if you change wheels. Each shipment will come supplied with test data from an independent lab showing they are stronger than the OEM bolts.

The best part is they are less expensive than OE bolts, and I will offer you an F-Talk discount if you mention you are a member. Check out our website for more info - www.dexmllc.com .

Thanks and I hope we can be of service.
